We are currently looking for dynamic, resourceful and proficient individuals to join our Risk P Practice as Collections Risk & Controls Manager.
We are seeking an experienced Risk & Controls Manager to lead, enhance, and maintain a strong risk and compliance framework within our Collections function. This pivotal role ensures that all debt management activities comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry best practices—while supporting fair customer outcomes and driving operational resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Own and embed risk and control processes across the full collections lifecycle—from early arrears to recoveries and write-offs.
•
Conduct compliance reviews, deep-dives, and thematic audits to ensure adherence to regulations such as Consumer Credit Act, FCA CONC, GDPR, PCI DSS, and Vulnerability Guidance.
•
Partner with Collections Leadership, Legal, and Compliance to embed risk culture and integrate controls into daily operations and customer journeys.
•
Develop and deliver risk-based training for collections agents, focusing on regulatory expectations, complaint handling, and dealing with vulnerable customers.
•
Identify, assess, and report on operational and regulatory risks specific to collections strategy, outbound contact methods, payment arrangements, and third-party engagement.
•
Maintain and enhance risk registers, RCSAs, breach logs, and ensure timely reporting and escalation of incidents.
•
Present risk insights, control effectiveness, and compliance metrics to senior leadership and governance forums.
Key Skills and Experience:
•
Extensive experience in risk and compliance management specifically within a Collections or Recoveries environment in retail banking or financial services.
•
In-depth understanding of regulatory frameworks including FCA Handbook (CONC), Treating Customers Fairly (TCF), Consumer Duty, and Data Protection legislation.
•
Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with operational, legal, and compliance stakeholders.
•
At least 5 years of experience in risk, audit, or compliance roles, including 3+ years in a managerial or leadership position within collections or arrears management.
•
Strong track record in conduct risk mitigation, including managing remediation plans and handling regulatory interactions.
•
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret MI, identify trends, and drive proactive improvements.
•
Experience working with third-party collection agencies (DCAs) or debt sale portfolios is a plus.
